JAVA EE

I decided to take a stab at the java language as i had some free time. I've been doing .NET development for about 2 years now and i must say i like it. Microsoft makes things easy!

When i first wanted to start programming java was the language i wanted to learn, but since i like a lot of web design ASP.NET would have been easier to freelance with. Strange thing is that the couple of desktop applications that I've been asked to do they requested Java and since i didn’t know it i had to decline.

Since Oracle’s buy over of Sun Microsystems i was forced to look and where Java might be heading. There are three thing that Sun was of interest to me which are Glassfish Server, Solaris (Open Solaris) operating system and of course the Java language.

I know the Solaris’ Unix like operating system is like no other and oracle would have a great platform to run there database on, especially with Solaris’ ZFS file system.

glassfish on the other hand i find mort interesting, more so there BEPL () technology.

OpenSolaris

I program in .NET but always wanted to get my feet wet with java, mainly for being cross-platform. since i know Sun is in charge of Java i wanted to take a look at the best OS to run it. I was very impressed at what i saw. I love the ZFS. Unfortunately I'm not used to the Unix type environment (yes windows made me very lazy). So i know i would need some help getting my way around the system. My end result is not that hard. All i want to do is have a system running with PostgreSql, Glassfish and most of all OpenSolaris. I think it will be the ULTIMATE SERVER.
